As I learn more and more about how many businesses and people depend on oil I come to realize that oil is a very & I do mean very important substance for the U.S and the shortage that this country is going through has a huge impact on everyone living here. I honestly am not a very active person in my community but from my family I know that my cousin Jasmine she’s 24 and she has lost her job because the Doctor who she was assisting went into bankruptcy which caused him to close down his clinic. My cousin depended very much on her job because her salary helped her pay her rent and also to take care of her 2 small boys. I am now taking actions in watching how much of certain products I use everyday, and am now limiting myself when it comes to my wants. I try my best to spend less money on wants and more money on needs. I think that the prospects in my community are not limited. I commute mostly through public transit since last year when I started a summer internship, I had to figure out things on my own and find my own way to where ever I was needed to go. Elasticity plays a very important role on this crisis because people’s reaction to various products on sale sort of plays an act on how much need or want something can be.!

So this oil spill drama is becominq more and more of an issue here in the United States. Well before I start to speak about the disaster that the oil spill in causinq to the community I want to talk a bit aboutt myselff. My name is Captain Stephanie and I own a carqoo station in New Orleanss. It was a very bussy stations while my foods came in and out the ports. I was havinq an awesome time doing what I love the most.! ridinqq my baby Camila she's my o'l holy ship I tell yah! Just when I thouqht my life couldn't be any better, I qet a call over the radio talkinq bout some huqe oil spill happeninq at the qulf. Now I have to unload my belonqinqs somewhere they aint suppose to be at.! Ain't that a disaster! now I have to waste double the money and my profitt qoess down.! I just hope this oil spill qets cleaned up quick because I dont think I can manage to deal with the stress that losinq money brinqs to my headd!! nooo!

Food Shortaqee;; becominqq a locavore.!?

I honestlyy did find this activity surprising because I alwayss thought that everything sold in California, practically came from California.! 0_0 Well except for certain foods I quess.? Like I guessed that pastaa came from Italy but I was completely WRONG.! It actually comes from Bannockburn, Illinous. I also realized how many miles It takes for foods to travel to different parts of the country. That takes me back to how much O i L is going to go to waste in so many travels going back and forth taking foods.

Ofcourse I'm extremely concerned about the food shortage because food is the main thing that keeps us alive. we could die of starvationn!

To be honestt my familyy and I always buy at the local makets which I read from the article is a step foward to becominqq a locavore. Soo I quess I have taken the first step to changing my ways of going out for groceries and meats. I can proudly say that I rarely head in to the big brand supper markets, I usually buy from the mini markets at the corner of my house unless the mini markets gett a bit expensive and there are special deals at the biq stores, then I head outt to the big stores!(=_I thinkk my next step is to visitt farms or better yett...grow my own fruit in my qrandmass housee backk yardd since I don't have one at my house.!(:

I honestly feel that cancelled airlines and gas station outages are negatively going to affect everyone. The amount of money that is going to be lost and thrown to waste is unexplainable.!! People will probably start riots and like I have said before, the domino affect will continue from the airlines to the peoples plans, gas station outagess that’s going to affect the way people communte around in their ownn wayys.!

I honestlyy feel very lost and like amazed that I have to literary give up things that I never thought I would. Especially the things that help me stay clean everyday.! Well honestly I would prefer to lose my soap instead of my shampoo because if I didn’t have any soap….my shampoo would be the alternative.(: I’m honestly willinq to make drastic chanqes for this cause, for example, I would stop usinq the bus, and just walk or ride my bicycle to wherever i need to go, I would measure my use on certain things that i use on a daily basis. I would probably be willing to buyy less name brand clothes and head outt to goodwill and qet myself some used clothing. O.k maybe that’s too far.!!! But if that was the case I would be willing to do that. =]]

I’m extreamly worried about losing ALL my necessities.!! I mean how will I shower without water.!!!!??? How will I ever update my status on Myspace or tweet on Twitter.! without my computer O M g my friends ill lose contact with them if I don’t have power in my house!! I don’t know about other people but I know that it will really affect me in so many ways if I lose my water, power, and food especially! I mean I’ll probably D i E of hunger.!!. If layoffs continue to increase people will have no jobs, money or lifes! this just takes me back to the domino affect that I mentioned before.!


I will personally have to minimize the thinqs I buy but really don’t need to survive. I will probably have to prioritize all my daily needs before I even waste money or time on things that I only want. I honestly don’t know exactly want my family is willing to give up but if anything I will make them.!!(=

So today in my Political Studies Class, we took a small and "Supposably EASy" quiz about the interesting life of O i L. I mean when you really think about it..O i L to me was just a dark & stinkky liquiddyy stuff that lives under the earth. so as i was readinqq over & over the quizz i was readinqq over somee verryy interestinqq stuff. like for examplee United States oil production has been increasing at about 2% per year since 1960. and the other interestinqq fact that cauqhtt my attention was The following countries showed oil decliness in the year of 2006, Saudi Arabia, Russia, United States, Iran, China, Mexico, Norway, and Venezuela. I hope to studdy more soo the nextt time we take a quizz likee thiss one i'll bee readdyyy for it.! ^_^
